According to Campnab’s Pretty Darned Useful Glossary of Camping Terms, bombproof is used when "describing gear or shelter that is exceptionally durable, stable, or resistant to extreme weather conditions."

We're pretty certain if there was a photo of a bombproof camping shelter, it would look like this:

Polishing up our off grid camping setup with our seventh truck camping trip. And our second trip to camp in multiple states. We hit five states this trip and also did five states in the fall of 2024.

A good place to start is with a list of our top five favorite (read: useful, practical, functional) components of Honey's set up followed by a few photographs of our rig in incredible places we camped this trip.

  1. Obviously, number one is the MoonLander itself. MoonLanders are tough but lightweight. Honey survived the tree incident last Christmas so we know her aluminum build is strong. Way more bear-proof than a tent. Even a truck-bed tent or truck-top tent, in our opinion. Our camper weighs only 301 lbs. from the manufacturer. That includes the Arctic Turn windows, the propane tank rack, and the MaxAir Fan.

Speaking of the MaxAir Fan. That thing has allowed us to camp in 32℉ temps without condensation. Without a heater for us since the body heat of two humans can be quite sufficient. We've also camped at 88℉ night temps very comfortably. Definitely add a MaxAir Fan to your build when you set up with Radica Products!

  2. EcoFlow DELTA 2 Portable Power Station with its Alternator Charger and 220W Solar Panels. This combo is THE game changer for off grid camping. Just ahead of this trip we added the Extra Smart Battery but regret this purchase. A second power station would be much more useful. This is because you can't use the extra battery to charge equipment independently of the Power Station. Knowing what we know now, we would have bought a second EcoFlow DELTA 2 Portable Power Station.

The Alternator Charger allows you to charge while on the road and the Solar Panels are great for times you're in one camping spot for multiple days. We are able to run our interior lights and MaxAir Fan plus our new refrigerator . . . see #3.

  3. SetPower PT35 12V Refrigerator/Freezer. After shopping all the brands and saying no to some super high priced options, we decided on the SetPower. While driving we have it in the backseat of our Tundra and overnight we plug into the EcoFlow in the camper. Another great add came in a suggestion from our friend Sheila (an adventurer with Ida, her Honda eCamper. Her suggestion was to use Shock Cooler bags. We were able to keep them frozen in our SetPower to add/swap out in our Yeti since we were carrying LOTS of frozen beef for our carnivore human and our raw-fed dog. Definitely saved on buying bagged ice!

  4. We traded our 7-gallon plastic water jugs for 5-gallon stainless steel Jerry Cans this trip. The size and shape of Jerry Cans make them more packable. Stainless steel over plastic may not be a big deal to everyone, but we're extreme water snobs. Since we have really good water from our well at home, we fill our cans before a trip and like to avoid anything plastic. We also carry a travel size Berkey water filter with us. Just another important thing in our healthy set up. For those who choose to refill water at various municipal water sources, Berkey's standard charcoal filters are wonderful plus you can add fluoride filters to your set up.

  5. Essential oils and colloidal silver. Our first aid kit includes bandages, calendula cream, silver and oils for burns, infections, headaches, motion sickness, bug bites, and bleeding wounds. Just in case we can manage a Raindrop Therapy technique, we have those oils on hand too. We keep an insect repellent spray for our pup with us at all times as well. If you're interested in learning about natural health aids and putting together your own emergency kit, drop us a chat or place your order with this essential oils shopping list and hit us up for a bottle of colloidal silver.
